# Add a Person

There are two ways to create a person:

### Method 1: Gallery Manager

1. Go to the **Gallery Manager** page.
2. Open **Organize Gallery**.
3. Click **Add Person**.
4. Enter the person's **display name**, **first name**, **last name**, and any other available information, then click **Add Person**.
5. The new person will appear in your list of people.

**Note:** A person's **avatar photo** can only be selected after the person has been created.

### Method 2: From an Image

You can also create a person while assigning a person to an image:

1. Go to the **Gallery** and click an image to open its larger view.
2. In the image metadata, find the **People** field and click **Edit**.
3. In the **Manage People** popup, enter the person's name in the **Add New Person** field near the bottom.
4. Click **Create** to create the person.
5. Click **Save** to return to the image.

The new person will now be available for this and other images.

**Note:** If the **People** field is not appearing in the image metadata, the administrator may have removed **People** from the **Standard Fields** list under **Gallery Manager → Image Fields**.
